EAPAN Mini-Conference 2024

The Environmental Assessment Professionals of Namibia (EAPAN) will be hosting its 2024 Conference, themed From Passion to Quality, in Swakopmund.

Time:      10:30 to 17:00

Venue:     The Stone Valley Environmental Management Facility

Environmental Law Training

EAPAN is excited to announce that we will be hosting an Environmental Law Training which will follow the AGM and mini-conference, detailes as per below:

Webinar: Sustainable use as right: it's the law! 26 August 2021 at 16h00

In this webinar, the panelists will discuss international laws around the sustainable use of wildlife by local communities. A particular focus will be the Convention on Biological Diversity's Nagoya Protocol regarding Access and Benefit Sharing. The keynote speaker is Kauna Schroeder of the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism Namibia who is is the chairperson of the international compliance committee for the Nagoya Protocol and the Namibian focal point for the Nagoya Protocol. She will be joined by Maxi Louis of NACSO (Nacso Comms) and several other panelists from southern Africa. Registration link for the event is in the image.

 

Facilitating Species Conservation Planning Workshops 13 September 2021 to 29 October 2021

The popular FREE training course "Facilitating Species Conservation Planning Workshops" from the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) Conservation Planning Specialist Group (CPSG) will be offered again starting in September. The application deadline is Monday 23rd August. The course is seven weeks long and the time commitment is stretched out across that period to make it manageable for professionals and students. The skill of being able to organize diverse stakeholders to identify shared priorities for conservation action is important to our collective work. Biodiversity Action Weekend at Gobabeb

Biodiversity Action Weekend invitation.

The programme commences at 12:00 noon on the 22nd May until late on the 24th.

Prices advertised are a combined total for accommodation (of your choice) for the nights 22nd, 23rd and 24th; meals from lunch 22nd to Breakfast 25th May and all activities as part of the programme.

These include scientific activities, discussions and presentations as well as exploratory walks, games and competitions for all ages.  Accommodation for Friday the 21st with included dinner and breakfast for Saturday can be requested at an additional cost.
