The Environmental Assessment Professionals Association of Namibia (EAPAN) represents and regulates environmental assessment practitioners in Namibia. It promotes high standards, ethical conduct, and best practices for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) to ensure sustainable development and informed decision-making.
EAPANs mission is to provide a national forum for advancing innovation, promoting international best practice and developing capacity in all forms of environmental assessment from local to national governance levels.
EAPAN supports the government by:
- Facilitating the improvement of the technical quality of submissions, thus reducing the review burden.
- Promoting compliance with Namibia’s Environmental Management Act.
- Providing practitioner feedback to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) to refine relevant policies.
EAPAN supports Developers by:
- Enhancing investor and lender confidence through the promotion of rigorous professional standards for Environmental Assessment practitioners.
- Facilitating more efficient approvals.
- Providing access to a network of skilled and ethical practitioners.
EAPAN supports Civil Society and Communities by:
- Strengthening public participation.
- Supporting transparency and accountability in EIAs.

EAPAN was established in 2012, following a consultative process amongst environmental assessment professionals working in Namibia.
