Job Title: Ecologist

Job Description: Intermediate gold producer looking for right candidate to fill Ecologist role at West African Operation within site Environmental Department. Company is committed to the conservation of biodiversity and the implementation of mitigation measures for potential impacts to areas where it operates. Key responsibilities will be implementing and managing biodiversity conservation measures in compliance with national legal requirements and Company objectives and in accordance with international best practice standards. Position also responsible for mentoring and training in-country staff (including the Environmental Manager) to increase their knowledge, carry out biodiversity monitoring and in general improve site ability to implement biodiversity conservation measures. Other responsibilities may be added to this position, including vegetation reclamation and environmental monitoring activities, as workload allows; however, the ecological and biodiversity conservation efforts will be the key focus of this position.
Position reports to the site General Manager and Corporate HSE Manager.
Africa experience a plus. French language a plus.
Position is based in West Africa.
Contract duration is between 12 and 24 months.

Job Title: Environmental and Social Management Consultant
Organisation: Bank Windhoek Holdings Limited
Job Description: Reporting to the Head: Governance and Reporting, the Environmental and Social (E&S) Consultant will ensure that the group’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) is properly implemented and monitored.
Moreover, he/she will ensure that the environmental and social risk exposures pertaining to all the group’s transactions are proactively identified, communicated and reported upon. He/she will manage the group’s ESMS process with reference to understanding environmental and social issues pertaining to clients and all relevant regulations in this regard. He/she will develop appropriate standards and policies in order to comply with various levels of environmental and social assessment requirements for business/corporate clients, screen the level and nature of potential risks associated with relevant loans/transactions/investments and ensure that they are managed according to the IFC’s guidelines on social and environmental management throughout the credit cycle.
